Prospectors Dream Pack Trail follows the old pioneering routes through the southern alps and into an historic gold mining town, St Bathan's, Central Otago.
Riding on New Zealand's South Island highest stock route we head up to 6000 feet above sea level. The breathtaking landscape is laid out before us like a patchwork quilt.
Sharing three days in the heart of the Dunstan Valley, crossing the river 24 times before we reach our destination, The Vulcan Hotel, St Bathans.
This is New Zealand's most haunted hotel, rich in the stories of the gold miners, the wee town is a joy to explore.
As we ride into town with our pack horses you can almost feel the ghosts of those old miners looking over our shoulders to see what we have in the packs?
The gold we seek here is the fun that we have along the way and the magical memories we make as we ride.
Take time for you and ride back in time to the rhythm of the horses hooves.
